Following the ceasefire in Lebanon – once a major flashpoint in the early days of the US-Iran truce – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said on Friday that the Strait of Hormuz was completely open to all commercial vessels.

Ambassador Beerends who was accompanied by representatives of International Finance Corporation (IFC), International Labour Organization (ILO), UNICEF, UNHCR and the World Bank – five partners implementing projects funded by the Kingdom of the Netherlands in climate change, humanitarian services, natural resources governance, inclusive financing and systems strengthening under the PROSPECTS partnership, said humanitarian support is at the centre of Dutch foreign diplomacy.

Haki Madini Coalition, which includes the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC), Community Initiative Action Group (CIAG) and Transparency International Kenya, among others warned of a "grave situation" unfolding in the affected counties, adding that the mining project is being pushed forward through systematic intimidation of local communities and the misuse of the criminal justice system.
