Uganda generates more than 600 metric tonnes of plastic waste daily; shockingly, less than 40 per cent is properly collected and managed. Approximately 40 per cent of the resulting waste ends up in the environment, where it blocks drains, worsens urban flooding and pollutes soil and water.
