Kenya Sevens national team powered their way into the quarter finals of the Rugby Circuit after they overcame Spain 26-12 to remain top of the Pool B in the Edmonton, Canada, second round of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.
In the first match, the East Africans pummelled Chile 36-5 in a one-sided match, which had Shujaa (Heroes) taken full advantages of the South Americans’ sloppiness with the ball, would have won with a bigger margin.
The win against Spain was Kenya Sevens second of the day. The try scorers were Nelson Oyoo and Billy Odhiambo, who is making his 50th appearance in Rugby circuit and Mark Kwemoi.
Kenya takes on the USA in the last group match later in the day, which will be 2.30 am East Africa time (23.30 hours GMT).
The two teams met in the semi-final of the Vancouver round of the circuit with Africans overcoming the Americans 19-14 to make the final.
In the All-African final, South Africa whitewashed Kenya 28-5 in the Main Cup.
