Sovereignty surrender: Kenya food security at risk as President Ruto lifts ban on GMOs, plans to privatise Kenya Seed Company

Since 1992, when Kakuma refugee detention camp was founded to transfer the victims of the Sudanese wars from Dadaab to create space for the influx of new refugees from the collapse of neighbouring Somalia, we demanded together with ECOTERRA International from United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) and World Food Programme (WFP) that any food consignment distributed to refugees must be certified GMO free.

Neither UNHCR nor WFP ever made this commitment and refugees were not ready to stand up in their own defence.

We then worked hard together with very few others (Greenpeace was not interested) to ban any GMOs from coming to Kenya and succeeded under President Kibaki. But there were backdoors built into the final law (exemptions for research, etc) drafted by the infamous Monsanto company, which led to our renewed demand to UNHCR and  WFP to guarantee the non-GMO food safety for refugee rations – both resisted.

Even under the ban GMO contamination of maize and wheat, papaya, bell peppers, tilapia and catfish happened secretly. Beware‼

With the pro-GMO directive by President Ruto, who also allowed the deadly mRNA injections since the Covid crime days, to now blatantly allow GMOs, the floodgates are wide open and the cancer rates are skyrocketing.
