A middle aged woman was Thursday charged with obtaining Ksh200,000 from a man after allegedly falsely claiming she could secure him employment in Denmark.
Leah Wanjiku appeared before Nairobi Principal Magistrate Paul Mutai, following allegations that she had obtained the money by false pretences.
Prosecution told the court that Ms Wanjiku obtained the money from Alexander Kyalo Peter after allegedly pretending that she was in a position to assist him secure employment in Denmark, a claim she allegedly knew to be false.
The alleged offence occurred on September 30, 2025, at Absa Towers on Loita Street in Nairobi.
The charges follow investigations into the alleged job fraud with the DPP subsequently bringing the matter before court for prosecution.
Wanjiku pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Principal Magistrate Paul Mutai released her on a Ksh100,000 bond pending the hearing of the case.
The matter will be mentioned on 22nd September 2026 for pre-trial directions.
