A court in Kenol, Murang’a County, has denied bail to a blogger and his wife accused of luring commercial sex workers from Thika to their home where they allegedly drug them, engage in sexual orgies while secretly filming without consent.

The blogger then shares the footage online.

Brian Morris Njagi and his wife Betty Kioko were arraigned before the Kenol Law Courts and charged with publishing intimate images and videos without consent, contrary to Section 37 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act, 2018.

The court heard that on diverse dates between March 17 and 18, 2026, at Wempa Location in Kenol, Murang’a South Sub-County, the accused allegedly published and distributed via Telegram account linked to Njagi. The adult images and videos of the sex-workers were published without their consent.

According to the prosecution, Njagi is accused of luring three commercial sex workers from Thika to his residence in Kabati, where they found his wife. The couple allegedly served them food and alcohol before the wife filmed them while they were engaging in sexual activities with her husband, vulnerable and intoxicated. The footage was later shared online, after which they spread quickly on multiple social media platforms.

The videos caused public outrage after relatives of some of the victims reportedly discovered the videos online and alerted the authorities.

Njagi and his wife Betty were arrested on Wednesday and detained at Kenol Police Station following complaints lodged by the Kiambu Sex Workers Association led by its director Jane Mburu, which called for investigations and justice for the victims.

When the matter came up for hearing, Senior Resident Magistrate Delroy Mwasaru denied the accused bail after the prosecution opposed the application, citing an ongoing similar case involving Njagi and the risk of interference with witnesses.

The court ordered that the two remain in custody pending further directions. The case will be mentioned on April 9, 2026. Meanwhile, investigations continue.
