Tanzania on Wednesday outlined key reform priorities aimed at accelerating inclusive economic growth and job creation under the proposed National Development Plan for the fiscal year.

Presenting the proposals in parliament, Minister of State in President’s Office for Planning and Investment Kitila Mkumbo said the plan’s priorities were formulated in line with goals, targets and performance indicators set out in the Fourth Five-Year National Development Plan.

The minister noted reforms in the fiscal year will focus on eight key areas aimed at strengthening governance, economic management and investment promotion, adding that the government will undertake institutional and governance reforms to strengthen accountability, transparency, and efficiency in public administration.

Economic reforms will also be implemented to improve macroeconomic management and expand growth in key productive sectors, including agriculture, industry, services, and the digital economy, said Mkumbo.

In the energy sector, he said, the government plans to reform policies and systems to ensure adequate electricity supply to meet growing national demand. Mkumbo said the government will also strengthen project preparation mechanisms to ensure projects meet financial, economic, and legal standards required to attract investors.
