Kisumu High Court sentences man to death for killing four family members but only first count will take effect as three others remain abeyance
Court records showed that although the accused initially denied the four counts of murder, he later changed his plea and admitted responsibility for the killings. Before entering the guilty plea, the Court ordered a psychiatric assessment, which found him mentally fit to stand trial. He was subsequently convicted on his own plea of guilty.

The judge stated that evidence produced in court during the proceedings showed that Mogaka was at the scene of the tragic incident that led to the death of his colleague on the fateful day. Mogaka was charged with the murder of lawyer Calvin Ngaira on May 10, 2019.
