Paris Saint-Germain have banned their players from drinking Coca Cola and ice tea, a move which will no doubt put a smile of the face of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Luis Campos, PSG’s new football advisor, made the decision to employ a nutritionist for the squad as one of his first major moves at the Parc des Princes. The French champions do hold a sponsorship deal with Coca Cola running until 2024.

New manager Christophe Galtier recently put a measure in place where his team must eat breakfast and lunch together.

After it emerged the club would ban fizzy drinks, one player who will no doubt be in awe of the idea is Manchester United forward Ronaldo.

Before speaking to the media in Budapest a day before Portugal’s Euro 2020 opener against Hungary, the star moved the Coca Cola bottles out of the frame and held up a bottle of water before saying, “Agua”.

PSG will be hopeful their decision to ban Coca Cola does not have an impact on their sponsorship deal. The club are going in search of their first ever Champions League triumph this season. SG have already beaten Clermont Foot 5-0 and Montpellier 5-2 to move straight to the top of the table.

Galtier’s men are also going in search of their ninth Ligue 1 title in 11 years this campaign.
