An 18-year-old man accused of bestiality has been ordered to remain in custody by a Kabarnet court.

Chriselda Kokwon is said to have committed an unnatural act with a goat on July 12, 2026, at Kasok Village of Baringo North Sub-County within Baringo County. The offence is contrary to section 162 (b) of the penal code.

Kokwon pleaded guilty when the prosecuting counsel Moses Ng’ang’a read the charges against him before Senior Principal Magistrate Purity Koskey.

Ng’ang’a told the court that on the material day, the complainant Isaac Cheboi received information from a neighbour Gilbert Kiplagat that his white goat was being defiled by the accused while grazing in the field.

Ng’anga noted that Kiplagat rushed to the scene and caught the accused red-handed mounting the female goat in the bushes at around 4pm.

“The goat was taken for examination by a veterinary doctor Silas Kipruto who then confirmed that it had been defiled,” Ng’ang’a told the court.

The prosecution counsel however stated that the examination report by the veterinary doctor was not ready and applied that the matter be deferred until further notice.

The case will continue on July 21, 2026 when the accused is expected to retake plea.

Five witnesses are expected to testify against the accused.
