A Kenyan pilot reportedly faces a challenging situation after his wife allegedly transferred property into her name and requested a divorce.
Captain Waweru Mwangi, a Kenyan commercial pilot who once considered a religious vocation, is said to be experiencing a difficult period following 34 years of marriage and raising five children.
For much of their marriage, the arrangement between Captain Waweru and his wife appeared to function smoothly. He would fly, earn and deposit funds into an account managed by his wife. He also reportedly secured a loan that the couple used to establish a school, which she subsequently managed.
“I covered all my children’s educational expenses and provided for them financially. I never doubted my wife and indeed she capably managed every project we planned,” he stated.
Difficulties in the marriage reportedly began to emerge around 2016, with disagreements at home becoming more frequent during his periods between contracts. He observed his wife becoming more distant but did not initially focus on it.
The pivotal moment reportedly occurred through an unexpected phone call. Their security guard at their Kileleshwa residence contacted him to inquire if he had authoriSed anyone to collect items from the house.
When Captain Waweru sought further details, the guard informed him that movers were loading household belongings onto a lorry.
He reportedly left his lunch in Dagoretti and drove back, instructing the guard not to open the gate until his arrival. He found the movers still clearing the house. His wife had reportedly instructed their children, who were present, to assist with the relocation. When he confronted her, she reportedly remained silent.
“She simply remained quiet. Had I not arrived in time, they would have left me with nothing,” he recounted.
Faced with the possibility of losing everything, he reportedly took a piece of paper. The two then reportedly created separate lists of items each would take.
Shortly thereafter, a man reportedly arrived at his Muthaiga residence, handed him an envelope, and requested his signature. Inside were reportedly divorce papers, accompanied by a list of allegations that left him astonished.
Captain Waweru reportedly moved out and began to rebuild his life through a company he had registered years prior. Finances were reportedly constrained. He was no longer flying regularly, and after covering the children’s school fees, little remained.
Then, his wife reportedly called. Their son required a kidney transplant. Captain Waweru generously donated one of his kidneys. This act reportedly led to a period of reconciliation, and he agreed to move into a house she had built. However, the peace did not endure.
Communication between them reportedly remained strained, and tensions eventually resurfaced over a routine matter such as a plumbing installation. A disagreement regarding the placement of a water pipe reportedly escalated into a confrontation that ultimately involved law enforcement.
The matter is currently undergoing legal proceedings.
His wife reportedly asserts sole ownership of all shared properties, including their family residence and the school, with documents allegedly transferred into her name as early as 2014 without his awareness.
He states that his children have been led to believe he contributed minimally to the family over the years.
He expressed, “These individuals have moved forward and no longer require my presence. I am currently facing challenges with legal expenses; I possess nothing and am hopeful for assistance. I am not hesitant to admit that I require support, particularly with the legal fees.”
