In 2022, I joined the University of Nairobi, hopeful that campus life would usher in a new lease of life. Instead, the agony intensified. I visited Kenyatta National Hospital and was prescribed spectacles to reduce light sensitivity. They cost 6,000 Kenya shillings, but even that brought no respite.
