Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has dismissed fears that the broad-based government is facing collapse and assured Kenyans that the coalition remains firm and focused on delivering their mandate until 2032.
Speaking on Monday during the launch of rural electrification projects in Ramacha area, Mukutani Ward, Baringo South Constituency, Wandayi highlighted the stability of the government saying:
“I want to tell the people of Baringo that do not worry at all about the broad-based government. It is rock-solid, complete and firm,” he said.
He said the administration is determined to stay the course despite external speculations.
The cabinet secretary further outlined the coalition’s long-term plan, noting that discussions were ongoing to ensure sustained collaboration between key political leaders.
“And we have said before, we will talk to Raila so he continues working with Ruto until 2032,” he pledged.
Wandayi also reflected on past political experiences, recalling the crucial role the Rift Valley played during the 2007 post-election crisis.
“We the people from Nyanza region can never forget you people in Rift Valley. You are very special people because when we had issues in 2007, you joined us and stood firmly behind Raila Odinga,” he reflected.
He said the historic bond between the two regions is a guarantor of peace and stability. He urged residents to remain confident in the coalition’s trajectory, dismissing doubts about its future.
“So now do not have even the slightest worry. We are walking with President William Ruto without a doubt because we have looked through and we have seen that the easiest way is this one, the right route is this of the Raila-Ruto coalition,” he said.
During his development tour, Wandayi highlighted the inclusivity of the broad-based government. He pointed out that its diverse composition represented the face of Kenya and was central to fostering unity. He cited achievements in infrastructure development, expansion of rural electrification and initiatives to lower the cost of living.
“The government’s track record speaks for itself, and our focus remains firmly on delivering results that directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens,” he stressed.
Wandayi reiterated calls for Kenyans to ignore political propaganda and support the coalition’s vision.
His remarks came in light of the joint working framework signed by President Ruto and Raila Odinga in March 2025, which seeks to address key national challenges including inclusivity, devolution, corruption, and implementation of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report.
