East African Business Council (EABC) in collaboration with the East African Community (EAC) Secretariat have sent condolences to Kenyans following the demise of ODM leader and former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga.

In a statement today, the EABC said they join the country in mourning the loss of the great son of Africa, a distinguished statesman, visionary leader and tireless champion of democracy and regional integration.

“In light of the presidential proclamation issued on October 15, 2025, declaring a period of national mourning until the day of interment and in respect of this solemn moment in the region’s history, the EABC conference, which was scheduled for today and tomorrow in Nairobi, has been postponed until a later date,” EABC said.

“A new date for the summit will be communicated following consultations with our partners and the Government of the Republic of Kenya,” EABC Chair John Lual Akol said.

“We thank all delegates, exhibitors, sponsors and partners for their understanding and continued support. Let us unite in paying tribute to the late Raila Amolo Odinga, whose lifelong dedication to justice, freedom and the unity of Africa continues to inspire us all,” he said.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who died on Wednesday morning in India, will be accorded a state funeral with full of military honours, while Kenya’s flag will fly half-mast in Kenya and all diplomatic missions, public buildings and public grounds.
