A mental patient went on rampage and stabbed three people, including a local administrator in Muharia Village, Sabatia Sub-County.
The man estimate to be 45 years attacked the trio before he was apprehended and handed over to the police.
According to Acting North Maragoli Chief Kenneth Ndagala, the accused Boge Odera, attacked the Assistant Chief of Kigama Sub-Location Maurice Mbarani with a knife. He stabbed him on the hands and face.
The attack left Mbarani with serious knife cuts, for which he was rushed to Jumuia Kaimosi Hospital where he was admitted for treatment.
Ndagala further said the suspect went on the rampage and attacked his two neighbours, senselessly beating one before stabbing the other with a knife. The injured was rushed to Vihiga County Referral Hospital for treatment.
“The Assistant Chief Maurice Mbarani lost a lot of blood after he was stabbed. When he was taken to the hospital, he had to undergo an operation and blood transfusion to save his life,” Ndagala said.
Chief Ndagala confirmed that the accused had been apprehended and taken to Mudete Police Station, Sabatia Sub-County, Vihiga County.
The incident has shocked residents of Muharia Village.
